Screen Washer Jet Drips / Squadron 58

Postby Miura » Wed Oct 03, 2018 11:58 am

Hello,

got the following problem on my Squadron 58 :

The STBD screen Washer jet drips all the time. On BB everything is fine. Only solution till now is to turn off the waterpump .....

Is there any solenoid valve build in which might have a problem ?

I appreciate any thoughts, as this case drives one crazy

Best regards

Hi
I have the same problem with my P50, the solenoid on mine is behind the stb basin cupboard. I haven’t replaced my one yet but will do later, up until now I have plugged the pipe at the wiper end with a stainless screw.
Try Bates Warf they should be able to source one, let me know how you get on.

It sometimes has happend that the selonoids were mounted the wrong way on the Squadrons and Phantoms.
I have had also some Targas with the same problem.
What is happening then is that pressure of the fresh water is pressing in the same direction as the valve is mounted.
The right way to mount the solenoids is that the valve is pressed on to the seat by the pressure of the fresh water system and opens against that pressure by the solenoid.
When the pressure of the freshwater system opens the valve slightly it starts leaking and that is not stopping any more and will be even worse after some time because limescale deposits on the seat of the valve and does not close proper anymore.
I belief that both of the valves are behind the aircon unit which is mounted under the floor hatch in the galley of the Squadron 58 but I am not sure of that because it has been a long time left when I was on S58.

Succes anyway,

Hello,

first of all thanks for your replies, especially Dick.

Found the solenoid valve under the floor hatch in the kitchen.

Problem solved
