New owners of a Targa 40 2002
New owners of a Targa 40 2002
Hi, We are just changing from a Targa 30 which was a fabulous boat, to a Targa 40. Can't wait to get her in about 3 weeks. We are on the South coast of UK. There are a few bits that she is missing or needs repairing/replacing. Does anyone know a good place to get the perspex/plexiglass chart cover on the dash ??
Re: New owners of a Targa 40 2002
Hi, and welcome to the Forum. Targa 30 and Targa 40 are both great boats so I'm sure you'll have loads of fun on board.
Coincidentally I spoke to the Fairline factory about those chart covers last week and they have confirmed that the original manufacturer is still able to make them. If you call Bates Wharf they should be able to order one for you (c. £150).

Re: New owners of a Targa 40 2002
Hi Pete, and thank you for your warm welcome to the forum. We have indeed had a great deal of fun on our 30 and really looking forward to picking up our newly acquired 40.
We had actually already looked at Bates Wharf and hoping to get something sorted a little cheaper if we can. If not we shall return to them again.
There are a few bits and pieces we will be after which we will no doubt be asking advice on in due course to bring her up to perfect condition (He hopes)
One bothering me slightly is the fridge in the galley has been renewed at some time but is not the same as the original which has the curved front, I cant find the make anywhere, so any help there would be gratefully received?
Regards
Nick (sometimes my wife Tina who posted the original question)

Re: New owners of a Targa 40 2002
To be honest, for things like the chart cover, I would buy from the OEM via Bates as they have the original patterns. You might be able to get something cheaper but you run the risk of it not being perfect.
I'll see what I can find out about the fridge.

Yes, I suspect you are right Pete as we do want as original as possible. The hinges have gone as well by the
way.
Thanks in advance for checking the fridge out for us.

Re: New owners of a Targa 40 2002
Pete asked me to answer your question about the fridge. The answer is that the curved front is not available - these were made by Fairline and then just bonded to the front of a regular Isotherm fridge.
Re: New owners of a Targa 40 2002
Thanks J.
Nick, it might be worth speaking to Fairline as they have loads of old surplus stock and sometimes you can get lucky.

Thank you both for the information and I will ask Fairline about the curved door. Really appreciate you guys taking the time to help.

Hi Nick/Tina
Welcome to measure mine up and have it custom made around Poole - sure this is easily do'able
My fridge has limited life left and I'm searching for new one.
Didn't realise front was glued on so will investigate debonding to assess
I was looking at these:
