Fuel Gauges Fairline Corniche 31 1965

Post by Barry C » Sun Feb 07, 2021 4:17 pm

Any Ideas purchased boat Aug 19 Fuel gauge registered Stbd 3/4 port slightly under on, collection from the medway . Arrived at Island Yacht club used minimal amount on journey , been out of water since . Batteries are allways charged , Done other work came to check electrics , found fuel gauge not working has change over switch one gauge for both tanks .
Have read that over a period of time fuel BUG can affect tank senders , Would MARINE 16 treatment clean Fuel and displace water !!!!! Sorry for war and peace . Tanks are stainless steel.
Cheers Barry C .

If the tanks are SS then they have been replaced, as for the fuel sensors it will depend on what type they are, if the reed type ( wema ) then they are sealed unit and not affected by bug, if they are a boom type ( resister) then they could be fouled and generally can be cleaned. Before removing them take the lead of the sensor and touch it to the tank, have somebody watch the gauge it should read full, if not your fault is elsewhere.
