Targa 37 Power trim and tilt fault

Postby Splash » Sat Aug 18, 2018 2:46 pm

Hi all, I've recently bought a 1998 targa 37 and the port outdrive has lost power to the leg trim and tilt and the digital display on the dash doesn't light up can anyone give me a clue where to start to look for the fault?

There should be two relays attached to the fluid reservoir mounting bracket.
I would suggest these are possibly the first things to check.

Try swapping over the port side with the stbd, and see if this cures the problem.

Thanks Malcolm, I'll try that but do you think that a faulty relay would also cause the digital display not to work? I was wondering if there might be a separate fuse for each leg just not sure where to look

When I have relay issues the display still comes on. Could be a fuse as you say. This may help...

Thanks again Pete, I'll have a look at the weekend and see if I can find any fuses or dry connection's.
Cheers

Not sure ref KAD 44. But going from memory a KAD43 has a fuse on the right hand side (looking aft) of the engine block next to the oil filter. You could try subsituting the one on the good engine and see if that cures the problem.
Incidentaly if you go to;

You should be able to download the Volvo Penta Instruction Book for your engine. Whilst not a full workshop manual it will have the basics.
