CARRERA 24 - IS THIS NORMAL?

Post by lazyland » Sun Apr 15, 2018 9:10 pm

Hello dear Fairline owner, yesterday I bought a Fairline Carrera 24 with two engines Volvo AQ171. Already on the day after the handover, I realize that the ship is quite deep with the stern. In addition, it is slightly inclined to starboard. (SEE PHOTO).

Is this normal for the weight of two engines or is something wrong here?
I took a picture showing the waterline to the side.
I did not store heavy objects in the ship.
The ship has a water tank and a sewage tank.

I would be glad to get a quick estimate of Carrera 25 owners.
Thanks in advance, Ingo

Looking at pictures of other Carrera 24's on the web, a lot of them seem to be quite low in the water. Yours perhaps very slightly more than others. I assume you have checked that there's no water in the bilges? Also, the sewage tank won't be original equipment so if that is full and is on the starboard side it could explain the list. Worth also checking that you don't have lots of heavy stuff (liferaft, outboards, etc) stored on the starboard side.

Thanks, in the meantime, I have also compared many pictures and notice that the low position of the ship is more common. Meanwhile, this has also confirmed the previous owner. He has also referred to the light banking as normal, since most installations are on the starboard side. There is also the waste water tank, even if it is currently empty. I'll get used to it and move the luggage and equipment to port.
Anyway, the Carrera24 is a nice boat and I'm looking forward to the summer.
Greetings, Ingo
