Mirage Aft Cabin taking in water

Postby queenfreya » Mon Mar 12, 2018 8:10 pm

Hello, my Mirage is taking in water in the aft cabin.
I have been restoring it so I replaced all windows which I thought was the cause.
I also had the water tanks drained and checked but they are ok.
And when the boat was put into the water in September, I had the stern gland tightened and bilge pumps checkef to make sure all were working.
Please see the photo attached.
The water is coming up from the hull / bilge in this area only.
Can anyone guide me to the problem with suggestions how to fix it please?

Thanks
Sharron

Hi Sharron, First question is it salt or fresh water. I recently had a similar problem on a Phantom 43. I had both fresh and salt water in the bilges. Found that the fresh water was coming from the calorifier which had a leak, this I have now replaced. Also the fresh water pressure pump was leaking. This was due to the O'rings on the inlet and outlet fittings letting water out, so replaced them, The salt water appears to be coming from a skin fitting that discharges water into the trim tab recess, this is just below water level. I have temporarily repaired this with self amalgamating tape. Hope this all helps. Richard.
