The Targa 40 is exactly the same and only charges the 2 port batteries , according to the Fairline engineer that I talked to, Fairline thought it was not necessary to charge the starboard battery because it's only function was to start the starboard engine and should receive enough charge when the engine is running. When the charger on my Targa finally gave up the ghost I fitted a new charger and wiring that enabled the starboard battery to be trickle charged when on shore power.

There's another two reasons that I've hear suggested...

1) By minimizing connections to other circuits there is less chance of a failure leading to the draining of the starboard battery.
2) Some chargers may be unable to charge battery banks of different sizes.

I've next found the existing wiring to be an issue. Why would you want to change it?
