Fairline Turbo 36 - opinions on the 200hp enginges?

Post by mainguy » Thu Nov 02, 2017 10:33 am

Hi Folks,

Looking to buy a Fairline Turbo 36 at present, and was wondering if any of you had knowledge/experience of the models with TAMD 41 200hp engines?

They're a bit lower spec than what's usually found on a Turbo, but I've found a particularly good looking 1990 boat and am thinking about making the compromise.

Thanks a bunch for your time

Excellent boat, excellent engines. The two together depends on where you will use the boat. She will struggle in a heavy sea, as she is underpowered for proper sea use, but if your using her on inland water ways or estries
it'll be fine. The turbo is a heavy boat, and when there is a bit of growth on the props and hull, also when you've loaded the boat up, you'll need all the power you can get!

If you are planning high speed, it is too little. I have 255x2. That is too little. But mostly crusing in 8-9, it works fine. I use the power in heavy sea, but not in nice weather.

Check shaft dimension - engines can be replaced :-)
