Gas struts for cupboards

Postby llnnc8 » Mon Oct 09, 2017 8:21 am

We have just replaced all the cupboard gas struts on our Targa 40 (2002). The quote to get the exact same ones as the original was £30 each. Now this would be nice but as they are rarely seen, and to be honest who notices them? So we managed to find on Ebay gas struts that are metal and a nice grey that fit in the existing holes so no new ones required. These are £1.89 each and they work perfectly. I got the lowest 50Nm ones for all the cupboards. If you put 'Gas Strut Lid Stay Cabinet Door hinge Soft Open/Close 50 60 80 100 120 150Nm' into Ebay, they should pop up. Basically we replaced all the struts on the boat cupboards for the price of one bespoke one from a Fairline parts distributer. Hope this helps for anyone looking to replace theirs. We can think of better things to spend money on other than expensive struts.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the tip. Do you have a link to the eBay ad?

I think this should do it Pete:

Let me know if that doesn't work
