Targa 30-wet bilge

Postby Felix H Wolkowitz » Fri Jun 14, 2013 4:08 pm

I've been a Targa 30 owner for the last 12 years! I've re-engined it, installed a generator, and made a host of other improvements. But, I can't seem to keep the bilge dry. All my efforts to find the source have been futile. The water is fresh water and accumulates after it rains, primarily in the engine compartment. Does anyone have experience with solving this problem?

Had the same problem and also thought it was rainwater, but it wasn't. I replaced the domestic water pump and discovered the old one had been leaking into the engine compartment bilge.

Had the same issue with our 40 and also put down to rain, being fresh, but discovered it was the fresh water tank fill hose / pipe. It was perforated probably from the hose pipe being pushed in, then when filling the tank to the point of overfilling, discovered this was when we were seeing water in the bilge. New filler pipe cured the problem.
