Which Antifoul?

Postby Paul Farmer » Sun Feb 06, 2011 9:40 pm

This will be the first year I will have to re-new the antifoul on my FAIRLINE SPRINT and I am not sure which one to use. The boat is used on the solent waters around chichester area, and is always in the water at a marina until it is taken out for winter around November time.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the correct type of antifoul to use?

Hi Antifoul is a matter of choice and of course cost.

Many on the market all claiming one is better than the other, basically
all good depends on how many coats you give.
So hard antifouling BLAKES SEAJET INTERNATIONAL XM

All will do a good job. most important if you can find out what is on the
hull as some may react with different brands. unless of course you
plan to rub down to primer etc.

Hi It's a shame you ask now.
I did our boat with the cheap stuff. Wife didn't like the colour so i re-did the exposed (to the eye) with the expensive stuff.
She can't see the cheap paint while in the water. (boat that is not wife)
Next time I take her out (boat not wife) I'll see if the extra money was worth it.

ps Don't tell my wife it will spoil the experiment and my general lifestyle. :-)
Regards
Ray
