Dinghy for snap davits - HELP!!

Postby markjohn2001 » Tue Jun 01, 2010 3:19 pm

I have a Targa 29, which came with snap davits already attached to the swim platform - these are 80cm apart. I also managed to pick up the right pads to attach to a new dinghy - so far so good!
Unfortunately, I have struggled to find a dinghy with enough free space along its length to allow space for the pads. I bought a Wetline 260 ECO which was a great dinghy, but unfortunately, just where I wanted to attach the aft pad, there is a 3-D logo, which (I'm told) would prevent the pads attaching properly.
As I'm sure I'm not the only Fairline owner who has faced this problem, I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Many thanks
Mark

Hi don't know if this will be any help at all, I have just bought a Phantom 32 and that has davits on the back, although I think they are possibly further apart than 80 cm (I will check this lunchtime) I too hav a wetline 260 eco mine has a preformed plastic loop on the stern board, and I have made up a harness with 8mm polyester three strand and three spring clips with a central o ring this is spread between the three d clips on the front of the wetlinewhich hopefully will allow me to hang it on the davits successfully...watch this space!!

Thanks to everyone - on this and other forums - for their assistance.
I have now bought a Seago 260, and wait to see how successful attaching the pads will be.
Will keep you posted.
Thanks again

Hi
I need to buy 2 snap davit pads for our inflatable.
They seem to be a nutty price.
Do you know of a "low" cost supplier?
Regards
Ray

Bad news - there isn't one

Postby markjohn2001 » Thu Aug 26, 2010 12:49 pm

Unfortunately, in my research Weaver/Polymarine are the only suppliers - and name their own (ludicrously high) price. I was lucky to get mine on eBay but no bargain.
Good luck - and if you do find them cheap - please let me know - best of luck!

Hi Mark
I agree with your comments on the price. I'm surprised somebody has not made a clone at half the price.
Thanks for the response.

snap davits for targa 29

Postby jak » Sun Sep 05, 2010 4:52 pm

hello, saw the thread and have just fitted new snap davits. had some sport billy davit arms which had to come off. (on e-bay soon!!)

I know of two types, weaver ones (have always used these) and Force 4 do some cheaper ones ?169.95.
I would say that you need the extended ones for the T29 and I would/have used weaver from polymarine.
Tender is a Zodiac s260 2002.

If you want some pics just ask.
