Fairline Sprint - Replacement Engine

Postby Paul Farmer » Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:40 pm

I am thinking about replacing my 20year old troublesome V6 penta -205
for a nearly new volvo D3 - 190hp that is available with reconditioned duo-prop stern drive, complete with new loom and software upgrade.

Does any one have any advice or thoughts about this?

Thats plenty of poke as a couple of mates put KAD 32 in Carreras and got 26k WOT whilst the same engine in Holidays gave nearly 30 k WOT
so I would guess 30 + knots for your new set up if you get the prop sizing correct

I would also recon is more than enough for your hull. I believe many of the D3 engines overstate the hp and never achieve the 190 but even if it was on par to a KAD32 it would be more than enough power.
