KAD 32 - Fairline Sprint

Postby Paul Farmer » Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:09 am

I am looking to remove my V6 Penta for either a KAD 32 or a D3 -160
and wondered if any one had any comments or suggestions about these engines. I understand the KAD weighs about 500kg as opposed to the V6 penta and sterndrive at 355kg. The D3 weighs about the same as my V6. Would this be the better buy? Does the extra weight on the KAD pose a problem?

I am not sure which to buy as both are being offerd by coastal rides at about ?8500 fitted.

Hi Paul,

If it were my boat I would ensure you get a duo prop leg whichever engine you choose.

I had kad32s and found them very reliable compared to my last V8 VP. I asked several VP dealers after my V8 boat which engine/legs they recommend I stick to when I choose the next boat. They all said kad32 / kad44, with 290 legs (they also said some other leg models but I dont remember now)

Ive also heard of many problems with the early VP D3s so they completely redesigned it? I dont know if the 160 is considered an early D3?
