In don't think to glass in some bearers for your engine mountings is too much of a big deal. I think its more a case of glassing in some blocks for the engine mountings rather than a 'cross member'.

Fairline did make a Mirage with a single Volvo V8 petrol, but I don't know what size it was ... however I doubt it would do 30 knots. and of course 2 x AQ145's might have squeezed 30 knots (downhill) when new ... but they wont now 30 years later. I took out my AQ145's and replaced them with 4 cyl 14...

Cannot believe you have no engine mountings on the front of the engine and that the whole thing is hanging on the bell housing. Incredible. You are going to need a fair old lump if you want to get that speed from a single engine. Before you make any commitments you will need to consider if the exist...

Not quite sure what you mean by 'level of survey'.
It is customary to have a marine surveyor check out your intended purchase which will be an out of the water survey where he will concentrate mostly on the hull, but also look for other problems.

The charger should first deliver about 14.6 volts for a time (determined by the state of the batteries) and then drop to a maintenance charge of around 13.5V. If the voltage doesn't reach approx 14.6 then the batteries will not reach a full charge. If the charger delivers too high a voltage then the...

The difficulty with problems such as yours is that everyone has an idea ... all are valid (to a greater or lesser degree) and you have to try to make sense of them all. My limited experience suggests that with significant actual water ingress into the cylinder you are more likely to get a bent conne...

Would certainly expect you to need negative trim to get up on the plane. If you have too much positive then you are just holding the nose up and will never get to plane. So negative to start and then adjust as you get going according to the attitude that gives you the best ride.

This is an unusual configuration and will be very heavy, making the boat low in the water at stern. Make sure that there is no water ingress through the sterndrives, which may well be deeper in the water than they were designed to be. Ensure there is room at the front of the engines to do the essent...
