Buying advice Phantom 38 / 40

Considering buying a Phantom 38, any advice / things to look out for from previous 38 / 40 owners ??

Or any owners on here looking to sell?

Thanks

I would also recon is more than enough for your hull. I believe many of the D3 engines overstate the hp and never achieve the 190 but even if it was on par to a KAD32 it would be more than enough power.

used to have the same problem on my old Regal, canvas shrinks over time, keeping it on the boat keeps it stretched.

Best thing is to soak it with spray of water let it sit for 5 mins then fit it.

congrats, snagging lists for new boats are always one arms length ;) Ive seen a couple of boats with two aerials only for cosmetic reasons. If you have AIS then that uses an ariel, most people would split the signal from one to run the vhf/ais. It could also be for the FM, my boat had glomex fitted ...

I also changed my brittany for a delta, you can loose weight and still have better holding, eg a 12 or 14kg brit is equiv to a 10kg delta.

I have a 12kg brittany with one bent fluke (can be bent back) for free if anyone wants to collect it (Southampton) for a spare etc.

Ive seen several mechs just run the engines for less time with no water, as long as the impeller is out and you havent drained the coolant. The cooling system is closed so it will heat up which is what you want but it just wont have a way to stop the temperature rising if you keep it running for a l...

Hi Ray, Which socket you need depends on which connector your pump has. I assume you want the 12V socket on the transom so you can pump a tender? If its a standard lighter socket plug (most pumps will be) then the type you have suggested is fine. Its probably better and cheaper to buy from a non mar...

Hi Paul, If it were my boat I would ensure you get a duo prop leg whichever engine you choose. I had kad32s and found them very reliable compared to my last V8 VP. I asked several VP dealers after my V8 boat which engine/legs they recommend I stick to when I choose the next boat. They all said kad32...

Its correct, the idea is if your portside bow is too high you press the top left swtich to compensate/lower it. "Trim Tabs operate the reverse of what you might think. The port trim tab controls the starboard bow. Conversely, the starboard trim tab controls the port bow. The helm control is wir...

Have you looked at the A series raymarines? Look good for the price if you want to update your gps at the same time and you can use the transom mounted transducer rather than a thru-hull if you want easier install... http://www.cactusnav.com/raymarine-a57d-inch-combo-plottersounder-cartography-p-102...

Hi Roger, when you wipe it off you drop it in the hole but dont screw it down, then check level. From my experience it never seems to go down and it was last checked in September. Ajay from the manual ... "Checking and topping up Unscrew (counter clockwise) and remove the dipstick. Wipe off oil...
