Re: Weekender 21

You don't say where the problem is ... but it sounds a bit like outdrive bellows ?

It is very UNLIKELY that you cannot get spares for this.

It is most likely an Enfield or a Volvo Penta and you can get parts for both of these.

post some photos on here and we will soon tell you which.

Re: 1974 25' fury pump

take a look at the Cleghorn Waring web site. They are the JABSCO people.

It is highly likely that they have a repair kit for your pump (if it is running but not pumping .. ie diaphragm problem).
or give em a call they are very helpful

Re: Engine keeps cutting out

Actually, I would not have thought it was compression. This would undoubtedly impact smooth running and power etc (and maybe even starting) but if all spark plugs look good I would be looking somewhere else. I have doubts that these compression differences would cause the symptoms described. Fuel fi...

Re: Algae in fuel tanks

so it would sound like you don't need any help to solve the problem as you thankfully already have a solution.

Re: Algae in fuel tanks

I suspect that you can polish ad-nauseum, but if there is goop stuck on the baffles you will not get it off. Dip tubes for generators and diesel heaters usually have their own take off which does not reach the bottom of the fuel tank so that you cannot end up using all your fuel and unable to start ...

Re: Algae in fuel tanks

I found it necessary to remove the tank and have it professionally cleaned. Goop gets stuck not only on the bottom of the tank but also on the baffles. No amount of fuel polishing and filtering will get this off because it is like a slime on the inside of the tank. If you can get to your your tank a...

Re: Inside canopy

I presume this is a canvas canopy. Mould on the inside is very common and is mostly caused by condensation. I recommend you obtain a good quality canvas cleaner (Starbrite ?) or mould remover and follow product instructions. You may need to removed the canopy completely and give it a gentle scrub an...

Re: The cost of marine wiring.

I think this restrictive practice is something that all marinas try to maintain. In reality I think you are entitled to decide to whom you will entrust your boat and the marina ought to respect that, in which case they may wish to charge you some kind of admin fee for allowing this. Alternatively yo...

Re: 82,mirage,engine swap

I would recommend you talk to marine engineer Lyndon Evans 07795 218704. He has a workshop and compound at Penton Hook and is often at Bray doing work for the many customers he has there.

I use Volvo coolant and leave it in all year. Fresh water in engines is not ideal as it contains no inhibitors to reduce corrosion.

Cleaning fuel tanks is really hard as they are fitted with baffles and even if you have inspection access you cant usually get behind the baffles to clean them. Petrol tanks on boats are inclined to develop some unpleasant 'waxy' deposit over the years unless the fuel is constantly being used and re...
