Fairline Targa 34 Syndicate

I'm currently looking at setting up a small (3 way) syndicate to run an early 2000's Mk2 Targa 34. Initial outlay is expected so be approx £28k (per share) with running costs approx £3k (per share). Boat will be kept in the Med (Spanish mainland / Balearics). If anyone is interested, please contact ...

Re: Engine failure.

Is it a brokerage boat or a stock boat being sold by the marina?

Re: Carpet insert

Hi ATG,

The big boat manufacturers often have a carpet over a wooden floor so I think it's quite doable. Obviously the biggest challenge will be to stop it sliding about.

Re: Advice on upholstery

Personally, I'd go for grey. I think the beige / sand looks a little dated already.

Or there's always the classic / original white with blue piping that will never date.

Re: Fairline Phantom 40 anchor light

Personally I would be happy to climb on that arch but be careful!

I can't help you with the bulb type but whatever it is I'd replace it with an LED one.

Re: Carrera re-fit, a more modern approach?

Hi Tango, I'm sorry, I've been reading your posts but don't have any bright ideas I'm afraid. Personally I like the boats to look as they did when they came out of the factory but perhaps with more contemporary soft furnishings, carpets, etc. On top of that a nicely installed nav pack perhaps? Regar...

Re: Wardrobe door seems to be fading

A friend just reminded me that it was a Fairline-specific problem from the early noughties. It was a manufacturing issue, combination of lacquer spec and bad veneer preparation (moisture levels). Don't worry about it affecting re-sale value, I can genuinely say 'they all do that' (well nearly always)!

Re: Lift outs

Hi, that's not something I've heard of. I can't imagine it's done any damage but would be worth mentioning it to your engineer the next time you speak to him.

Re: Hello from Ross-shire

Sorry for the delay, thanks for registering. I love the Phantom 40 and the people at the factory still say it's one of Fairline's best. I hope you have some great time aboard.

Re: 2001 Targa 43

They're a great boat, built like the proverbial brick sh!it house.

Just find one that's been well looked after get it surveyed. If you intend to keep it in the Med then factor in the cost of A/C, Genset, Pasarelle etc.

Re: Wardrobe door seems to be fading

Hi,

It's commonly known as 'blooming' and is very prevalent in boats of that age. Repairing it is an expensive job (it would need to be sanded back to the original veneer and re-varnished) so most owners just live with it.
