Re: 1986 Fairline Phanton 32

On my 1986 Turbo 36 the details are on the lower helm dash panel, but the serial is only 4 digits.

Re: New Generator

It is important that the generator cannot power the boat the same time as the shore supply or an inverter supply. Also it is normal to have a connection between the earth and neutral at the power source, e.g. at the shore power transformer and also at the generator. BUT only one neutral to earth con...

Re: Water pressure system problems

I would simply replace the valve.Easy enough to find from a plumbing suppliers or Ebay. The 3.5B valve on my Turbo started dribbling quite a bit below lift setting - New valve was a doddle to fit.

Re: TAMD61A Fuel Pump Timing

www.ybw.com go to forums then motor boat forum, then search for user Volvopaul.

Good forum plenty of knowledge on there - the Practical Boat Owner forum also very good from same site.

Re: charging 2 x 12v 85Ah

Roughly 10% of the AH for the pair of batteries, so 15 or so amps would be just fine. However I have 4 x 125 AH all running on float from a 15 amp charger (2 pairs from a dual output charger).

Re: New member

Welcome to the forum. I have owned my Turbo 36 since 2011 and love it. The TAMD 40 is a little under powered. Mine has the middle issue TAMD60C 255HP and cruises at 16 knots all day, and will top out around 22-23 knots, but they do like the fuel at that speed. The later TAMD61A will reach above 25 k...

Re: Cutlass bearings on Turbo 36

Turned out to be a disintegrating lower cutlass grasping the shaft tight. Took me 3 days a one mighty lot of swearing to get the shaft out. The cutlass appears to be 1.75" Shaft OD x 2.25" housing ID, which seems not to be a standard size. Anyone know if this is the correct housing size or...

Re: Cutlass bearings on Turbo 36

Thanks Jon.

My seals might be Manecraft. Do you know there recommended service life.

I had a good look this morning and I reckon getting to the upper cutlass will be difficult to say the least.

Fingers crossed it is just settled mounts.

Cutlass bearings on Turbo 36

Does each shaft have one or two cutlass bearings ? Mine has Tides style seals. Is there an upper cutlass tucked in behind it. How the heck do you remove the thing. If there isn't an upper cutlass behind the seal will the shaft droop when disconnected from the gearbox output coupling. Port shaft is s...

Re: Pencil Anodes

The earlier TAMD60C has the following ... Engine Oil cooler 1 or 2 (better with two one each end) smaller size Gearbox oil cooler 1 smaller Fresh water side of heat exchanger 1 smaller (god knows why!) After cooler 1 larger The engine diagram shows another one, but I have never found it. Hope this h...

Re: Fairline Spares

Trend Marine in Norfolk supplied lots of ancillary items. Sealine also used a lot of similar stuff so the Sealine Forum is worth a visit for help.
